Billy Goats Come Back Late to Clip Dirty Reds
|
The San Mateo Dirty Reds got a sterling performance from designated hitter Palaie Gaoteote, but the Billy Goats still prevailed, 5-4. Gaoteote was named the player of the game in a losing cause. He slugged 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. Colorado reliever Amando Codes was credited with the win, to go to 1-0. Urs Ehles took the loss for San Mateo. Even with the win, the Billy Goats have a dismal 10-24 record.
Colorado took a 5-4 lead on Phil Moore's 5th home run of the season. The 2-run home run came off San Mateo pitcher Urs Ehles in the bottom of the eighth.
In postgame comments to the Colorado Bulletin, Moore said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
