Losing Streak Continues for Canucks with 3-2 Loss to Snowpeople
|
The Ellesmere Island Snowpeople topped the Moose Jaw Canucks, 3-2, in USSL Rookie action at Foresters Stadium. The player of the game was Ellesmere Island pitcher Danny Antonio. Antonio went 8 innings to notch the win. He scattered 8 hits, walked 1, and struck out 5. His record improves to 3-6. The last-place Canucks have lost 17 consecutive games.
Thiago Cicerón dealt the Canucks a blow in the top of the fifth. Batting with the bases loaded and Ellesmere Island leading 2-0, Cicerón, who is tied for 9th in the SR in stolen bases with 6, hit a 1-1 curveball for a run-scoring single.
"Baseball is about momentum," said Cicerón, "and we feel we've got it in our favor after that win."
