Victory Over Baby Blues Takes Valley View to 29-18
|
Benefiting from an exceptional performance from Brian Webb, the Valley View Cougars defeated the Quebec City Baby Blues, 5-2. Webb went 3-4 with a home run, 2 doubles, and a walk. He scored 2 runs for the Cougars. Jesús Ríos got the win, improving to 3-1. He pitched 7.1 innings, giving up 9 hits and 2 runs, while striking out 5 and walking 1. Ray Armstrong picked up the save, his 7th.
Valley View used the clutch hitting of Ryan Dodson to capture the win. The designated hitter drilled a 2-run double in the top of the seventh inning to give the Cougars the lead, 4-1. For the game, Dodson had 1 single and 2 doubles in 5 at-bats.
"I thought we played a nice game," Webb told the Valley View Citizen. "Good pitching, timely hitting, it was all there."
At 29-18, the Cougars are currently second in the Silver R.
