Rams Clip Snowpeople in Tight Contest
|
The Ellesmere Island Snowpeople got a sterling performance from pitcher Marcos Lucero, but the Rams still prevailed, 4-2. Lucero was named the player of the game in a losing cause. He threw 6 innings allowing 2 runs. Ari Schaller earned the save for Ladue, his 7th of the year. The Rams, at 19-12, have now won 5 straight.
Had Ruff McGruffin not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 3rd, McGruffin hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Rams.
"We'll savor this win," McGruffin told the Ladue Today, "then get ready for the next game."
