Warheads Fall to .500 After Loss to Fire
|
The Franklin Fire racked up a win at Ballpark of Henderson, bumping off the Amarillo Warheads, 6-3. Juan Gonzáles, who started for Franklin, pitched effectively for his team. In 6 innings, Gonzáles surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 2. He allowed 3 runs. The second-place Fire now have a win-loss record of 15-9.
Franklin used the timely hitting of Will Blalock to seize the win. The right fielder stroked a 2-run single in the top of the fourth inning to put the Fire on top, 5-3. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"I've been criticized for being a slacker, but the one thing I do care about is winning," Gonzáles told the Franklin Daily.
