Shockers Drop Another One
|
The Amarillo Warheads picked up a win at ďAbbots Ballpark, knocking off the Surprise Shockers, 6-4. Starting pitcher Rey Counsell was an essential part of his team's success. Counsell, the winner, moves to 1-1. He threw 6.1 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 5 and giving up no walks. With the win, Amarillo is 9-8.
Bao-tian Tong dealt the Shockers a blow in the top of the fourth. Batting with the bases loaded and Amarillo leading 2-1, Tong, who is tied for 10th in the SR in doubles with 6, hit a 2-1 fastball for a 2-run single.
"We'll savor this win," Tong told the Amarillo Observer, "then get ready for the next game."
