Ayala 'Lights Out' in Valley View Win
|
The Valley View Cougars got a strong performance from pitcher Greg Ayala, who stymied the Moose Jaw offense en route to a 6-2 win at Foresters Stadium. Getting the save was Domingo García, his 1st. The Canucks, at 4-12, have stumbled out of the gate.
The standout performance belonged to 19-year-old Ayala. With his baby face, he looked more like someone starting for a high school team than for the Cougars. His performance, however, was nothing short of top-notch. The youngster dominated the Canucks, striking out 10 and scattering 3 hits over 8.1 innings. Ayala is now 1-0 on the season.
"It's a mindset," said Ayala. "Just trying to do your job, trying to be consistent."
