Snowpeople Turn Back Warheads, 4-3
|
The Ellesmere Island Snowpeople took Amarillo pitcher Domingo Galló's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Ballpark of Henderson. The final score had Ellesmere Island getting past the Warheads, 4-3. Galló went 6.1 innings and allowed 2 earned runs, striking out 12. Ellesmere Island starter Danny Antonio was credited with the win after throwing 106 pitches over 6 innings. His record now stands at 1-2. Al Maxwell earned the save for Ellesmere Island, his 7th of the year.
In the top of the 7th, first baseman Joel Fagliano gave Ellesmere Island the lead when he hit a 2-run single. The Snowpeople had been trailing 2-1, but the two-out single off Amarillo pitcher Bill Miller changed that -- and Ellesmere Island went on to win.
"You get some opportunities, you better take advantage of them," said Amarillo manager Arthur Franklin.
The Warheads fall to 6-8 and continue their unimpressive start to the 2041 season.
