Bowties Stumble, Lose to Dirty Reds
|
The San Mateo Dirty Reds picked up a win at 5 Paces Park, knocking off the Buckhead Bowties, 8-2. Starting pitcher Michael Machen, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason why. At 12-17, the Dirty Reds find themselves in 8th place in the Silver League.
San Mateo used the clutch hitting of James Hemwick to capture the win. The second baseman drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Dirty Reds ahead, 3-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a big one.
"It was a solid team effort," said Hemwick after the game.
