The Surprise Shockers got a good effort from starter Jim Murray in defeating the Ladue Rams at Ballpark of Wellsville. The final score was 5-1. Murray got the win, improving to 1-0. He allowed 7 hits and walked 1 over 5.1 innings. Murray allowed 1 earned run. Alfonso Medina earned the save, his 1st, for the Shockers.
Surprise used the timely hitting of Rodger Parsons to seize the win. The first baseman stroked a 2-run single in the top of the first inning to put the Shockers on top, 2-0. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Win or lose, we pick each other up in this clubhouse," Parsons told the Surprise Citizen.
With the loss, Ladue is 1-1.
