Ducks Topple Lead Sox, 5-2

Indiana got a terrific performance from pitcher Roland Sheffield, but it wasn't enough to beat the Long Island Ducks. Long Island won the Ducks Park contest, 5-2. Sheffield was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He threw 5 innings allowing 4 runs. The winner was Francisco Vega in relief. His record improves to 4-1. Roland Sheffield took the loss. Getting the save was Jimmy McDonald, his 18th.
Moores Mill, Alabama-born Tom Kelley came through in the clutch. In the bottom of the second, with runners on 1st and 2nd and the Ducks trailing 1-0, he hit a 2-run double to right to put Long Island on top.
"We'll relax tonight and get back after it tomorrow," Kelley said after the game.
Long Island is now 40-31. Indiana is 34-37.
