The Crowley Cajuns picked up a win at Ducks Park, knocking off the Long Island Ducks, 3-2. Starting pitcher Mark Springer, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason why. In 6 innings, Springer surrendered 4 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 4. He allowed 2 runs. Byron Vyse finished to wrap up his 13th save.

Crowley first baseman Sergio Valentín contributed a timely at-bat in the top of the fifth. With two down, he hit a sinker into left field for a run-scoring single. It was his 11th hit of the season and put the Cajuns ahead, 3-2.

"For the most part, I stayed out of the middle of the plate," Springer said.

Crowley currently is in second place in the Premier R at 26-15.
