Ducks Fall Short, 3-2, at Redwood
|
Redwood beat Long Island on the strength of starter José Cruz's fine effort. The right-hander led his team to a 3-2 win. The winning pitcher was Cruz, now 1-0. He tossed 5 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 3 and fanning 5. With the loss, Long Island drops to 1-4.
Savannah, Georgia-born Luis Ibáñez came through in the clutch. In the bottom of the fourth, with runners on 2nd and 3rd and the Rhinos trailing 2-1, he hit a 2-run single to center to put Redwood on top.
"I really like what we did out there today," Ibáñez said after the game.
