Guzzlers Raise Rally Flag, Beat Tennessee, 4-3
|
The Guzzlers had to overcome a fine performance from Tennessee pitcher Costanzo Miniato to grab a 4-3 win at Smokies Stadium. Miniato allowed 2 earned runs over 7 innings. Galesburg reliever Li-chi Lou picked up the win, bumping his record to 4-0. Mitchell Isaacs was collared with the loss. Daniel St. John, credited with the save, is now 7 for 7 in save opportunities.
Galesburg used the timely hitting of Cheh Che to seize the win. The designated hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Guzzlers on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
"It was our day today," Che told the Galesburg Chronicle. "But we've got to keep our nose to the grindstone."
The current losing streak for Tennessee has reached 6 games.
