Yepes Helps Blaze Run Win Streak to 3
|
The South Beach Blaze downed the Eugene Vandals, 10-5, at The Riot Zone. The Blaze were led by Thiago Yepes, who captured player of the game honors. He went 3-4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 3. Robert Moody was the winner. Over 6.2 innings, he allowed 4 runs on 7 hits, with 2 walks and 9 strikeouts. Dan Smith earned the save for South Beach, his 2nd of the year.
It could have been a different outcome for South Beach, had it not been for Sergio Morales, the 21-year old third baseman . Morales contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the seventh inning to put South Beach up, 5-4.
"We came out aggressive," said Blaze manager Vicente Rodríguez. "We came out swinging the bats."
South Beach goes to 55-21. The win puts them 6 games up in their division.
