Vandals Prevail, 6-4, Over Galesburg
|
Eugene center fielder Roosevelt Cartledge had a 3-RBI game, which helped his team beat the Galesburg Guzzlers, 6-4. Isacco Taricco earned the win to go to 1-1. He allowed 4 earned runs on 8 hits, with 3 walks and 3 strikeouts. Tommy Moore was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 8 of 9 save opportunities.
Cartledge contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for Eugene in the top of the fifth. With his team trailing 4-3, Cartledge took a fastball from Horatio Hornblower and stroked the home run to left. His 2nd home run of the season allowed the Vandals to leap in front, 6-4.
"I was able to barrel up some pitches," said Cartledge.
The Vandals sit in 8th place in the Premier A with a record of 26-44.
