Kent third baseman Jesús Muńíz had a 3-RBI game, which helped his team beat the South Beach Blaze, 10-4. Fredrick Shive got the win, improving to 2-2. He held the Blaze to 2 earned runs on 6 hits over 5 innings, while striking out 7 and walking 3. The Comets move to 35-33 with the win, while the Blaze drop to 49-19.

The Blaze had been locked in a 2-2 tie with the Comets going into the top of the third inning. That changed quickly when the 21-year old first baseman Brian Myers came to the plate. Myers hit a 2-run home run on a 0-1 fastball from South Beach hurler Kevin Gabriel. It was Myers's 6th home run of the year.

"One win at a time, one game at a time. We try not to get too far ahead of ourselves," Myers told the Kent Today.
