Vandals Edge Gold Sox, 7-6
|
The Eugene Vandals and Chicago Gold Sox obliged those fans who came to The Riot Zone looking for a good time.
The Eugene Vandals trumped the Chicago Gold Sox, 7-6, at The Riot Zone. Eugene designated hitter Noud Baggerman was named player of the game for his performance. He was 2-3 with a double and a walk, while scoring 3 times and driving in 2. The winner was Carlos Guadarrama, who threw 130 pitches over 5 innings. The right-hander was charged with 5 runs on 9 hits. Tommy Moore was called on to finish, recording his 3rd save.
In the bottom of the first inning, shortstop Barton Ryan came through big-time for the Vandals. With Eugene trailing 2-0, he belted a 2-run home run.
"I just try to go out and give it 100 percent every game," Baggerman told a local reporter after the game. "That's my mantra, and like today, it will pay off more often than not."
Eugene goes to 16-34, Chicago to 19-31.
