It was a fun time at Fuller Park, where the Tennessee Smokies and Kent Comets tangled.
Kent rode a fine outing from starter Javier Merlo to victory over the Tennessee Smokies at Fuller Park. The final score was 8-1. Merlo, now 3-4, was the winner. In 5.1 innings, he gave up 3 hits, while striking out 11, walking 2, and allowing 1 earned run.
With no one out in the bottom of the fifth, Alohinani Puanani barreled up a changeup from Francisco Borges. The result was a 3-run home run, putting the Comets in front, 6-1.
"We'll savor this win," Puanani told the Kent Today, "then get ready for the next game."
Kent is 6th in the Premier A with a record of 22-26.
