The Tennessee Smokies bested the Kent Comets, 6-1, at Fuller Park. Royce Rolls was named player of the game. He went 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. Costanzo Miniato picked up the win, improving his season record to 1-3. He struck out 3 in 7.1 innings. The 7th-place Smokies are now 20-27, the Comets 21-26.
The result might have been different for Tennessee, had it not been for Erwan Michel, the 19-year old shortstop . Michel stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the fourth inning to put Tennessee up, 3-1. For the game, he had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"I just try to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Rolls.
