Vandals Come Back Late to Clip Blaze
|
The Eugene Vandals bested the South Beach Blaze by a score of 6-2, with left fielder Ángel Júlio getting the main credit. On the day, Júlio went 3 for 5 with a double and 2 singles for the Vandals. Eugene reliever Eugene Bell picked up the win, bumping his record to 1-1. Connor Wilson was collared with the loss. Even with the win, the Vandals have a dismal 9-29 record.
Eugene used the timely hitting of Aniq bin Mu'ayyad to capture the win. The first baseman stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the eighth inning to put the Vandals on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but he made it count.
Júlio told a Eugene Today reporter that he was "satisfied" with the win.
