It was a good time at Fuller Park, where fans came to watch the Galesburg Guzzlers and Kent Comets get after it.
The Kent Comets beat the Galesburg Guzzlers, 6-2, at Fuller Park. Kent first baseman Aklilu Heri earned player of the game honors with an outstanding performance. He went 2-4 with 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. Kent starter Javier Merlo was credited with the win after throwing 98 pitches over 5.1 innings. His record now stands at 2-4.
Heri came through with some timely hitting for Kent. With the score 1-1 in the bottom of the fifth and two down, Heri hit a 1-0 fastball for a 2-run home run. His 2nd home run of the season made it 3-1, Kent.
"It feels good to get this one," Heri told the Kent Today.
Kent now sits in 9th place in the Premier A at 13-23.
