Benefiting from Coy MacKey's productive game, the Chicago Gold Sox downed the Lake Erie Arryns, 9-3. MacKey went 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 5 for the Gold Sox. Chicago reliever Mike Lee got the win, raising his record to 3-0. Artie Crumpacker was tagged with the loss. The Gold Sox now have a record of 14-17 with the win over Lake Erie.

With Chicago leading 5-3 in the top of the ninth, MacKey hit a fastball from José Reyes for a grand slam home run. It was his 4th home run of the season and put the Gold Sox ahead, 9-3.

In comments to the Chicago Chronicle, MacKey insisted that he's not as disinterested as it often appears. "Haters will hate," he added.
