Multi-HR Game for Burton in 6-4 Win
|
The San Mateo Dirty Reds bested the Thunder Bay Northern Lions BC, 6-4, at Great Northern Field. Tom Burton was named player of the game. He hit 2 home runs, while adding 5 RBI and scoring twice. Urs Ehles got credit for the win, improving to 2-0. He allowed no runs on 2 hits in 1.1 innings. The Northern Lions BC fall to 4-6 and continue their wobbly start to the 2041 season.
Burton had a game-changing home run in the top of the ninth. On a first pitch slider from Ingo Abresch, he banged a 3-run home run to right, giving the Dirty Reds a 6-4 lead. It was the 4th home run of the year for Burton.
In postgame comments to the San Mateo Gazette, Burton said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
