Hawks Win at Caldwell, 2-1
|
Laredo starter Daryl Benstead pitched effectively against the Caldwell Chiefs at Pipers Ballpark. The right-hander led his team to a 2-1 win. The winning pitcher was Benstead, now 7-4. He tossed 6 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 2. The Hawks raised their record to 50-37.
Laredo used the timely hitting of Todd Walker to seize the win. The designated hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the sixth inning to put the Hawks on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"I like the grit of this ballclub," Benstead said.
