King Joseph never let Grim get something going. The Syracuse right-hander commanded his cutter in pitching the Storm to a 2-1 win. Joseph got the win, improving to 2-1. He allowed 3 hits and walked 3 over 8 innings. Joseph allowed 1 earned run. Nate Flores was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 21 of 21 save opportunities.

The Reapers had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Storm going into the bottom of the fifth inning. That changed quickly when the 21-year old center fielder Nathan Shallcross came to the plate. Shallcross hit a run-scoring single on a 2-0 fastball from Grim hurler Roberto Punyed. It was Shallcross's 41st hit of the year.

"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Shallcross. "And not try to do too much."
