The Mangos faced a stiff challenge from Laredo pitcher Cooper Carroll, but persevered to claim a win at Hawks Field. The final score was 4-3. Carroll went 7 innings and allowed 3 earned runs. Thomas Hancock earned the save for Kingston, his 18th. Kingston is now 31-42, while Laredo is 41-32.
The game was at a stalemate until designated hitter Joe Wolfe came to bat in the top of the ninth. Facing Laredo pitcher Domingo Jones, he hit a 0-1 sinker for a run-scoring double. It was a game-changer, putting Kingston on top, 4-3.
"Win or lose, we pick each other up in this clubhouse," Wolfe told the Kingston Herald.
