Hawks Clip Seahawks, 2-1
|
Myrtle Beach got a terrific performance from pitcher Kwang-sik Kang, but it wasn't enough to beat the Laredo Hawks. Laredo won the Seahwaks Stadium contest, 2-1. Kang was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He threw 5 innings of 4-hit ball. Domingo Jones closed the game out for Laredo, earning his 2nd save. At 38-29, the Hawks are currently third in the Silver A.
The Hawks beat the Seahawks in part due to timely hitting. Case in point: the two-out single Joăo Lourenço produced in the top of the sixth. Batting against Myrtle Beach pitcher Carlos Pagán, Lourenço gave his team a 2-0 lead when he hit a 2-run single.
"If you ever get this game figured out," said Myrtle Beach manager Omer van Osch, "let me know."
