Chiefs Stay Hot, Beat Generals
|
With second baseman Bastien Oudin leading the charge, the Caldwell Chiefs defeated the Washington Generals, 7-3, at Washington Park. Oudin, who is tied for 4th in the SA with a .309 batting average, went 2 for 3 with a double and 2 walks, while scoring 2 runs. Ralph Hanscombe got the win, improving to 3-9. He held the Generals to 1 earned run on 5 hits over 5.2 innings, while striking out 6 and walking 3. Caldwell has now won 5 straight.
Caldwell used the timely hitting of Dan Babauta to capture the win. The catcher stroked a bases-clearing double in the top of the third inning to put the Chiefs on top, 5-0. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but he made it count.
"We took advantage of our opportunities," Oudin told the Caldwell Bulletin. "It's as simple as that."
