The Syracuse Storm and Myrtle Beach Seahawks were greeted by an enthusiastic crowd at Storm Park.
The Myrtle Beach Seahawks downed the Syracuse Storm, 12-0, at Storm Park. The Seahawks were led by Anton Zdravomyslov, who captured player of the game honors. He was 3 for 3 with 2 doubles and 3 walks. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Alan Haas picked up the win with 5.2 innings of work. He allowed no earned runs on 4 hits, while walking 1 and striking out 7. On the season, he is now 4-3.
The Storm had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Seahawks going into the top of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the 19-year old shortstop Darren Gordam came to the plate. Gordam hit a bases-clearing double on a 0-1 cutter from Syracuse hurler Ari Heinonen. It was Gordam's 18th double of the year.
"Enjoyed this one," Gordam told the Myrtle Beach Herald. "But it's back to work tomorrow."
The first-place Seahawks have a one-game lead in their division.
