Reapers Pull Off Thrilling Win in Extras
|
The Niagara Falls Expos got a sterling performance from pitcher John Deemer, but the Reapers still prevailed, 2-1. Deemer was named the player of the game in a losing cause. He threw 6 innings of shutout ball. The winner was Remco Mansvelt in relief. His record improves to 2-4. Ricardo Corona took the loss. Gabriel Leeds got the save, the 19th for him this season.
Grim used the timely hitting of John Manley to capture the win. The catcher socked a run-scoring double in the top of the tenth inning to put the Reapers ahead, 2-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was an important one.
"We put it together today and came out with the win," Manley said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."
The Reapers own a robust 36-20 mark.
