84s Win Thriller, 3-2
|
The 84s had to overcome a good performance from Buckhead pitcher Leon von Stroheim to claim a 3-2 win at 84s Field. von Stroheim went 8 innings and allowed no earned runs. Dave Lawson got credit for the win, improving to 1-0. He allowed 1 run on 2 hits in 3 innings. Greenville, at 4-1, is off to a blistering start.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the ninth inning, when Greenville left fielder Glyn Bolasky, facing Roderick Miller, had a run-scoring walk. It gave the 84s the 3-2 win.
"We came out on the wrong end of this one," said Buckhead skipper Kerry Hofmeister.
