Hawks Win Streak Now at 6
|
Laredo Hawks starter Mike Wilson was in a groove as he led his team to a win over the Niagara Falls Expos, 6-3. Wilson, now 3-5, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 5, walking 0, and allowing 2 earned runs. The third-place Hawks have won 6 straight.
The Expos had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Hawks going into the top of the fifth inning. That changed quickly when the 21-year old shortstop Walker Ragland came to the plate. Ragland hit a run-scoring single on a first pitch fastball from Niagara Falls hurler Yaw Selemani. It was Ragland's 47th hit of the year.
"I like our mindset right now," said Laredo manager Leonardo Sánchez.
