Hawks Get 7-5 Win Versus Mancelona
|
The Mancelona Torch got a superb performance from first baseman Qi-zhen Shen. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Laredo. The Hawks won the game, 7-5. In spite of the loss, Shen was named the player of the game. He went 2-3 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Cooper Carroll, who went 5.1 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 3 runs on 5 hits, while walking 1 and striking out 5. His record now stands at 3-0. Martin Rumbolt, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 5th save.
Woody Maxwell swatted a 3-run home run for Laredo in the bottom of the third. The third baseman went 2 for 4 for the game, including 1 home run and 1 double. He scored 1 run and batted in 3.
"We'll grab a cold one tonight and go after another win tomorrow," Maxwell said.
Laredo is 16-12 and Mancelona, with the loss, 11-17.
