Generals Prevail, 6-4, Over Delaware
|
Washington and Delaware duked it out at Washington Park and the Generals came out victorious.
Washington right fielder Sam Bickerton had 4 ribbies while helping his team defeat the Delaware 1787 BC, 6-4. The winner was José Espinosa, who threw 103 pitches over 7 innings. The right-hander was charged with 4 runs on 7 hits. Randy Keith got credit for the save for Washington. It was his 6th of the year.
A crucial at-bat came with runners on 1st and 2nd and no one out in the bottom of the seventh inning. That's when first baseman Sun-dong Yang drew a walk. The Generals went on to win.
"You can't take yourself too seriously," Yang told the Washington Times. "But at the end of the day, we do play to win ballgames."
Washington, now 9-6, has gotten their season off to a good start.
