Reapers Score Late to Upend Chiefs, 5-3
|
The Grim Reapers faced a tough opponent in Caldwell pitcher John Jennings, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Pipers Ballpark by a final score of 5-3. Jennings went 7 innings and allowed 1 earned run. The win was credited to Radislav Ciger in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Jim Nasium took the loss. Earning his 4th save for Grim was Gabriel Leeds.
The outcome might have been different for Grim, had it not been for Patrício Gerardes, the 22-year old third baseman . Gerardes stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put Grim up, 3-2. For the game, he was 2 for 2, including 1 double and 1 single.
"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Gerardes told the Grim Daily.
At 9-5, the Reapers have played well so far.
