The first-place Caldwell Chiefs welcomed Washington to Pipers Ballpark.

With left fielder John Kersey leading the charge, the Caldwell Chiefs defeated the Washington Generals, 7-1, at Pipers Ballpark. Kersey was 3 for 3 with 2 doubles and 2 walks. He scored 3 times. Abisai Tinter picked up the win, improving his season record to 1-0. He struck out 9 in 6.1 innings.

The game was on the line with two out in the top of the seventh inning, but Rubén Medina didn't flinch. With the bases loaded and Washington trailing 3-1, Medina retired Nathan Polkinghorne to end the threat. "Nothing to it," said Medina, with a wink.
