Storm Win, Hope to Turn Around Slow Start
|
Syracuse Storm starter Jeff Davis turned in a top-notch performance against the Laredo Hawks at Storm Park. The result was a win for the Storm, 5-2. In 6.1 innings, Davis surrendered 4 hits, while striking out 9 and walking 0. He allowed 1 run. Nate Flores earned his 2nd save in 2 tries.
The Storm grabbed the lead in the bottom of the third. With no one out, Bobby Verstraten hit a 2-run home run off Jorge González, putting Syracuse in front, 3-0. For Verstraten, it was his 2nd home run of the season.
"At the end of the day, it's always about your starting pitcher," said Syracuse skipper Theodore Johnston.
Syracuse is still hoping to get on a roll. The win is just their 2nd in 6 games.
