Evergreens Reel Off Another Win
|
Ryder Ringor did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids from losing, 5-4, to the Portland Evergreens at Evergreen Park. Ringor went 2 for 3 with 2 home runs and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. Portland reliever Steve Gourin picked up the win, upping his record to 2-3. Ricardo García took the loss. Raúl Romero earned his 11th save in 17 chances.
Fernando Soto, who is tied for 4th in the PL in total bases with 225, aided the Portland cause with a run-scoring single in the bottom of the second. For the game, the center fielder was 1 for 3 with a walk. He scored 2 runs.
"I believe in our guys," said Portland skipper Brandon Slouck. "I like the energy they're playing with."
The Evergreens, at 62-46, have now won 6 straight.
