Yinzers Squelch Bulls Offense in Shutout Win
|
Monroeville right-hander Artie O'Neal was in fine form, shutting out the Belleville Bulls, 5-0. In 5 innings, O'Neal surrendered 3 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 2. He allowed no runs. Monroeville, at 50-44, occupies 4th place in the Menard's A.
Monroeville used the timely hitting of David Ferris to seize the win. The second baseman stroked a 2-run single in the top of the sixth inning to put the Yinzers on top, 3-0. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"At the end of the day, it's always about your starting pitcher," said Monroeville skipper Bob Dickerson.
