Jets Edge Yinzers, 4-3
|
Monroeville pitcher Artie O'Neal gave the Jets all they could handle, but in the end, Kennesaw left Jets Stadium with a 4-3 win. O'Neal allowed 2 earned runs on 3 hits over 6 innings. The winner was Kennesaw reliever Roberto Palmeiro, now 2-0. The loser was Edward Swetnam. The 9th-place Jets lifted their record to 42-46.
The game was at a stalemate until designated hitter Steve Hodge came to bat in the bottom of the 16th. Facing Monroeville pitcher Edward Swetnam, he hit a 2-2 cutter for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Kennesaw on top, 4-3.
"It's great to get the crowd pumped up," Hodge said.
