Voodoo Lose to Rainbow Mermaids, 6-5

Northern Virginia left fielder Jeff Washington played a vital role in his team's 6-5 triumph over New Orleans. He went 2-3 with a triple. He scored 2 times for Northern Virginia. Shang-de Fu got the win, improving to 7-2. He worked 6.2 innings, giving up 5 runs on 5 hits, while striking out 1 and walking 3. The Rainbow Mermaids bumped their record to 53-51 with this latest triumph.
Northern Virginia used the bat of Rob Brooks to get the win. The right fielder hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Rainbow Mermaids ahead, 5-1. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it did its damage.
Washington told the Northern Virginia Today: "Win or lose, I don't want to see our team outhustled."
