Águila goes 4-for-4, Chukars Move to 37-24
|
The Idaho Falls Chukars topped the Alameda Airmen, 5-2, with right fielder Ricardo Águila playing a big role. Águila was 4 for 4 with a home run and 3 singles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3 for the Chukars in the win. Idaho Falls starter Mike Lewis was credited with the win after throwing 103 pitches over 8 innings. His record now stands at 4-2. Artie Bates earned the save, his 16th.
Idaho Falls used the timely hitting of Pleun Vleugel to capture the win. The first baseman socked a 2-run double in the top of the fourth inning to put the Chukars ahead, 3-0. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was an important one.
"I still think this team has room for improvement," Vleugel told the Idaho Falls Citizen.
At 37-24, Idaho Falls is in second place in the Menard's A.
