Walleye Need Extra Frames to Get Past Airmen
|
The Walla Walla Walleye topped the Alameda Airmen by the score of 6-5, with the largest share of the credit going to right fielder Steve Williams. Williams went 3 for 6 with 3 singles for the Walleye. The win was credited to Roberto Trevino in relief. His record improves to 3-1. Mark Edwards took the loss. Earning his 1st save for Walla Walla was Derrick Jones.
The outcome might have been different for Walla Walla, had it not been for Eloi Hanai, the 21-year old shortstop . Hanai stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the 14th inning to put Walla Walla up, 6-5. For the game, he was 2 for 7, including 1 double and 1 single.
"Big team win," Hanai said later.
The 7th-place Walleye raised their record to 22-24.
