Palladium Sox Pull Off Thrilling Win in Extras
|
The Virginia Palladium Sox picked up a win at Chesapeake Grounds, knocking off the Chesapeake Continentals, 5-4. Starting pitcher Dudley Malone was an essential part of his team's success. Virginia reliever Steve O'Fennaghty picked up the win, bumping his record to 2-0. William Burkett was collared with the loss. With the victory, the Palladium Sox record now stands at 30-30.
Steve Washington's hit in the top of the 14th was a game-changer. With two out, he rapped a fastball from William Burkett for a run-scoring single. It put Virginia in front, 5-4.
"I was a little disappointed," said Chesapeake manager Pedro León. "We could've and should've scored more runs."
