Blimps Use Late-Game Magic to Beat Shuckers
Akron starter Lance Mascola pitched effectively against the Biloxi Shuckers at The Pizza Oven. The right-hander led his team to a 8-4 win. Mascola, now 3-2, was the winner. In 7.1 innings, he gave up 9 hits, while striking out 6, walking 2, and allowing 2 earned runs. Lorenzo Encarnación recorded the save for Akron, his 17th of the season.

Akron used the timely hitting of Dave Hill to seize the win. The first baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Blimps on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

Hill called the triumph "a good team win."

The win puts the Blimps at 36-24, while the Shuckers drop to 32-28.
