Screaming Eagles Clip Shooters in Tight Contest
The Springfield Shooters and Mercer Island Screaming Eagles were greeted by an enthusiastic crowd at Springfield Stadium.

Springfield got a terrific performance from pitcher Mario Fuentes, but it wasn't enough to beat the Mercer Island Screaming Eagles. Mercer Island won the Springfield Stadium contest, 7-2. Fuentes was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He threw 6 innings allowing 1 run. The win was Ryan Fry's in relief. His record improves to 1-1. Hamilton Franklin took the loss for Springfield.

Mercer Island needed the clutch hitting of Brian Drake to notch the win. The catcher hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Screaming Eagles on top, 3-2. For the game, Drake had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.

Drake attributed the win to "a well-rounded effort by the whole team."

Mercer Island now has a 3-game win streak.
