Late Rally by Browns Secures Win
|
Cleveland rode a decent outing from starter Eric Matson to victory over the Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids at Atlantica. The final score was 4-3. Reliever Damien Morin picked up the win. His record improves to 4-5. Yoriyoshi Sugimoto took the loss. Juan Vias converted his 7th save in 7 tries.
Cleveland used the timely hitting of Lauren Hilfiker to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Browns on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
"There's still time to turn this season around," said Matson.
The Browns are now 47-53, while the Rainbow Mermaids fall to 50-50.
