Screaming Eagles Win Again, Extend Streak to 6
|
Mercer Island left fielder Dima Tabakaev was instrumental in his team's 6-4 win over the Ithaca Fighting Imps. Tabakaev, who is tied for 3rd in the PAA in triples with 2, went 2-4 with 1 run scored to lead the offensive attack for the Screaming Eagles. Greg King, the winner, improved to 1-0. He held the Fighting Imps to 4 earned runs on 6 hits over 5 innings, while striking out 6 and walking 2. Ryan Fry got credit for the save for Mercer Island. It was his 6th of the year.
Tabakaev came through with some timely hitting for Mercer Island. With the score 2-0 in the bottom of the third and one down, Tabakaev hit a first pitch cutter for a grand slam home run. His 10th home run of the season made it 6-0, Mercer Island.
"We take it day by day here," said Tabakaev, "and today was a good one for us."
The losing skid has reached 8 games for Ithaca.
