Blimps Spoil Great Performance by Fateen
|
Despite a fine performance by first baseman Sariyah Fateen, the Olympia Ogres suffered a 11-6 loss to the Akron Blimps. Fateen went 4-5 with a home run and 2 doubles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. Michael Ramsey earned the win for Akron. He lasted 5.1 innings, allowing 4 earned runs on 9 hits, while striking out 4. With the win, he raised his record to 3-0. Mariano Bueno closed it out for his 1st save.
A crucial at-bat came with runners on 1st and 2nd and no one out in the bottom of the fifth inning. That's when shortstop Roberto Ramos, who is tied for 7th in the PAA in stolen bases with 9, drew a walk. The Blimps went on to win.
"The boys were really swinging the bats today," winning manager Jared Gilbert said.
The Ogres have now dropped 5 straight.
